Artisans Map

Special cultural project created by Clara Pizarro, from Casa Luya. Through this project, I had the big opportunity to photograph along with 3 other photographers to highlight and celebrate the artisans of the Mafra region and their fantastic art.

As a photographer, there was no greater satisfaction than capturing and immortalizing the stories of such dedicated and talented people. Each click of my camera is a way to honor these artisans, who carry in their hands not only objects of unique beauty but also immense knowledge passed down through generations.

The Artisans Map is not only a cultural guide and exhibition but is a way to value and preserve the local culture. Through these photographs, we are eternalizing the work of these artisans and giving them due recognition. It is an opportunity to share with the world the artistic richness and diversity of this very special region.

Being involved in this project is a constant source of inspiration. With each artisan I meet, I learn more about the history, the techniques, and the secrets of their work. Each meeting is a chance to enrich my artistic vision and to connect with a community that breathes art in every gesture.

May these photographs tell stories, awaken emotions and, above all, perpetuate the legacy of these artisans. May the Artisans Map be an invitation to dive into the cultural richness of Mafra and an incentive for us to value more and more the work of these true keepers of artisan knowledge.
